Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
